You would like to prepare units of an A/B mixture with % additive

Component A has % additive, and Component B has % additive

Use units of Component A and units of Component B.

Example 1: You want to make 175 ml of 30% isopropyl alcohol solution, but you only have 70% alcohol on hand. In this case, 175 goes in the first box and 30 goes into the second box. Say "alcohol" in place of "additive". The units you have chosen are ml, and will be so wherever you see the word "units". Choose Component A to be the 70% solution, so put 70 in the third box. Component B will be pure water with no alcohol, so put 0 in the fourth box. Click the button. The answer is to mix 75 ml of Component A (70% alcohol) with 100 ml of Component B (pure water).

Example 2: You want to prepare 100 pounds of Valox plastic with 5% glass. You have unfilled Valox and 30% glass-filled Valox. Enter 100 into the first box and 5 into the second box. Replace the word "additive" with "glass". When you see the word "units", say "pounds". Let Component A be the unfilled Valox and Component B be the 30% glass-filled Valox. Enter 0 into the third box and 30 into the fourth box. Click the button. You must mix 83.33 pounds of unfilled Valox (Component A) with 16.67 pounds of 30% glass-filled Valox (Component B).

Example 3: You want to be at least 85% productive during your 8 hours at work. You are 90% productive while performing your primary job function, but only 10% productive when sitting in a meeting. How much time can you spend at meetings? Using "hours" as units and "productivity" as the additive, put 8 in the first box and 85 in the second box. Component A of your day is your regular work, so enter 90 into the third box. Put 10 in the fourth box for Component B and click the button. According to the calculator, you may spend only 30 minutes per day in meetings.
